Lady Archers tune out Lady Bulldogs in Finals opener

The Lady Archers were in full swing today at the Mall of Asia after they pulverized the league-leading NU Lady Bulldogs with a dominating 72-48 rout to move one win away from the prestigious title.

Ara Abaca had another double-double outing with 15 points and 11 rebounds while Trisha Piatos added 15 points and grabbed 6 boards. In addition, Cass Santos and Nicky Garica scored 11 points apiece and grabbed a combined 15 rebounds.

“I just love the effort and the focus that the girls showed today,” said DLSU head coach Tyrone Bautista after the game.

On the other hand, Anne Gupilan led NU with 15 points and 12 rebounds while Kristine Abiram added 8 points and 10 rebounds.

Their next game will be this coming Wednesday, 11:00 am, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

After standing at bay at the first half, La Salle finally waxed hot down the stretch in the second half as they slowly dismantled the Lady Bulldogs with their tight pressure defense and outside shooting. The team’s stingy defense was also responsible for letting NU commit an alarming 29 errors.

The dominance of La Salle over NU eventually carried through the final quarter as the team hit shot after shot from almost anyone leading to their 72-48 demolition of NU.

When asked about his expectations for their next game, Coach Bautista optimistically ended, “We cannot afford to relax, we cannot be complacent about it, there is no more tomorrow.”
