Untimely Lady Archers meltdown against Lady Bulldogs sets up rubber match finale

The DLSU Lady Archers failed to win the coveted championship as they fell short to the NU Lady Bulldogs in their 67-52 defeat yesterday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Trisha Piatos was the lone bright spot for La Salle as she scored 14 points and had 3 steals. In addition, Nicky Garcia chipped in 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.

On the other hand, Andrea Tongco had a stellar performance for NU as she scored 23 points and dished out 3 assists.

With this La Salle defeat, it will now be a winner takes all match this coming Saturday, 10 am, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

After a see-saw exchange in the first half, La Salle failed to run their offense in a pivotal third quarter as NU mounted a scoring that was too much for the Lady Archers to handle.

After a Cass Santos baseline jumper that knotted the score at 37-all, La Salle struggled mightily down the stretch as the team gave up 12 unanswered points which saw the lead swell to 51-39 in favour of the Bulldogs.

La Salle got outscored 22-36 in the second half which made any comeback attempt near impossible.
