The De La Salle Lady Spikers continue its dominance this season as they trounce the UP Lady Maroons 25-15 25-23 25-12. They improve to 11-0.
Ara Galang led all scorers with 17 points and 2 blocks while captain Abi Maraño added 11 points for the three-time champs.
Following an easy first set win, the Lady Spikers again struggled in the second set similar to their previous match against FEU. The Lady Maroons jumped to an early six point lead and was still in command by the second technical timeout at 16-14.
With Galang ang Maraño leading the charge, La Salle stormed back to tie the knot at 20-all. The Lady Spikers got some breathing room as they scored three straight points to put them up 23-20. The feisty UP squad refused to yield as they put themselves within a point 24-23. La Salle however made sure there won’t be another collapse as Cyd Demcillo closed out the set to complete the team’s comeback.
The Lady Spikers then made quick work of their opponent in the third as they raced to a 12-2 lead. Coach Ramil De Jesus then brought in his bench players to finish the job.
With the win, the team clinches a twice-to-beat edge in the Final 4. In the event they sweep the eliminations, they will head straight to the finals with a thrice-to-beat advantage while the next 3 teams will slug it out in a step-ladder semifinals.
La Salle’s next opponent will be UST next Saturday.
