Green Archers steamroll Generals for 4th win

The DLSU Green Archers clobbered the EAC Generals 83-51 yesterday to remain undefeated in the FilOil Tournament.

Rookie Taane Samuel registered a game-high 28 points along with 9 rebounds while comebacking Mark Dyke finished with a double-double of 13 points and 10 boards.

Leading by just 5 at the end of the first half, La Salle went on a 20-0 explosion to begin the third quarter and eventually put the game out of reach and notch their 4th win in as many games.

This game gave us a glimpse of what Samuel can do. For a his height, he has pretty good lateral quickness and face-up moves. With Justine Baltazar in the middle, the team has the luxury of sliding Samuel at the 4 spot which can create matchup problems for the opposition. Yesterday, he went 11 of 16 from the field and got his total point production in just 17 minutes of court action. At only 19 years of age, he will surely get better as he adjusts to the team’s system and the local style of play.

The Green Archers also unveiled their new high school recruits in this game – Eroll Pastor and Christian Manaytay from SHS-Ateneo de Cebu and Donn Lim from St John’s Bacolod. All three managed to score in this game.

The team will next face the UE Red Warriors on May 25.
