Demolition in Antipolo. La Salle beats UST by 41.

For the last two years, UST has been the Green Archers’ punching bag. It remains the same this season.

Aljun Melecio had 22 points while Mark Dyke scored a season high of 16 as La Salle manhandled the Growling Tigers 110-69 Saturday to strengthen their hold of third place in the standings.

This is the Green Archers’ 6th straight win over UST dating back to UAAP Season 79. The average winning margin is 35 points.

In perhaps their best offensive performance this season, La Salle started the game strong and built a 19 point lead after two quarters. Looking to deliver the finishing kick early, they started the second half on a 20-0 run. The lead balooned to 44 as they outscored the Growling Tigers 34-9 in the third period.

La Salle shot 53% from the field and had 15 three pointers. They are the first team to hit the century mark this season.

With the win, La Salle improved to 7-4, a full two game lead over UST, UP and FEU who are tied at 5-6 as of press time.

With three games left in the elimination round, they need one more win to assure themselves of a playoff for a berth in the Final 4. They shall next face NU this coming Wednesday.
