The De La Salle University Men’s Football team suffered a rude awakening in their UAAP Season 81 Men’s Football Tournament campaign.
Up against last year’s finalists the University of Santo Tomas Golden Booters, the Taft squad folded 1-3, Sunday afternoon at the Far Eastern University-Diliman field in Quezon City.
Rookie John Rhey Lagura’s goal at the 13th minute failed to ignite the Green and White as it conceded three goals from UST’s Conrado Dimacali III, Jr Villanueva and Glen Ramos at the 17th, 36th and 68th minutes respectively. All three goals were caused by lapses in defense.
It was a difficult start for the team but the players can take solace in the fact that the rookies hit the ground running in their UAAP debuts and that the scoreline flattered UST.
Next up for the team is a tricky assignment against Adamson University on February 24, 2019, 1:00 PM at the FEU-Diliman field.
