For the Lady Spikers, there’s no such thing as rebuilding.
And they proved that once again, silencing their doubters by hammering title-favorite Ateneo 25-14, 25-17, 16-25, 25-19 Sunday to start another UAAP volleyball campaign.
Despite losing several key players entering this season, the team showed that they are still very much capable of making a strong bid for a 4th straight title. This win over the heavily-fancied Lady Eagles, who made quite a noise after perfoming well in their stints in the semi-pro leagues was definitely a statement to the rest of the league.
“Hindi naman madaling kalaban ang Ateneo. It’s the first game, naging pabor lang sa amin yung lahat ng situation, kaya siguro kami na nanalo,” said head coach De Jesus.
