La Salle dominates FEU once again in finals rematch

What was expected to be an exciting rematch of last season’s finalists turned out to be a one-sided affair.

And just the same, the defending champions came up on top.

In perhaps their most dominating performance this season, the Lady Spikers edged out FEU in straight sets 25-15, 25-19, 26-24 Saturday to close out their first round campaign.

Tin Tiamzon once again led the way for La Salle with 13 points followed by May Luna with 10. Desiree Cheng, who sat out last game with a shoulder injury made a brief return in the closing moments of Set 2 in which she ended with a kill.

After imposing their will in the first two sets, the Lady Spikers had to slug it out with the Lady Tamaraws in the third. After blowing a huge lead and eventually trailed 19-20, the team once again showed enough composure as FEU succumbed to errors towards the end.

‘Yung last set, eventually, nagkaroon na ‘yung FEU ng connection. Kinapitan lang namin ‘yung third set,” said head coach Ramil De Jesus.

La Salle is currently in second place with a 5-2 slate. This is the same record they had at this point in the tournament in the last three seasons in which they won the title.
