La Salle stumbles into third loss against rampant FEU

In the end, huge errors on defense cost the De La Salle University Men’s Football Team valuable points against the Far Eastern University Tamaraws.

At the FEU-Diliman turf, Alfonso Montelibano’s goal wasn’t enough as La Salle lost 1-2 versus league-leaders FEU, Sunday afternoon, in the UAAP Season 81 Men’s Football Tournament.

FEU’s Kim Minsu struck within the first minute of the game when he took advantage of the space he was given in the La Salle box to draw first blood.
Montelibano then went on a fine run into the FEU box and scored past Tamaraws goalkeeper Dave Parac for the leveler at the 22nd minute.

La Salle failed to convert its chances after Montelibano’s goal and it fell to Dominique Canonigo’s free kick that went into the back of the net after a deflection from the Green & White wall seven minutes from time.

With the result, La Salle still has 9 points after six games in the competition. It hopes to finish the first round strongly against archrivals Ateneo de Manila University on March 21, 2019, 3:00 PM in FEU-Diliman.
