Vergara’s brace leads La Salle to comeback win over Adamson

A win is always the best remedy to a poor run of games.

After three matches without a win, the De La Salle University Men’s Football Team took out all of their frustrations on Adamson University as they won 4-2, Sunday morning, at FEU-Diliman.

La Salle overcame an early error from rookie goalkeeper Franz Brosoto to earn the win. Brosoto failed to handle an Adamson corner, which allowed Jusuel Pilarca to score.

Mateo Alegre scored an equalizer in first half stoppage time and his goal set the tone for Alvin Ocampo’s team in the second half.

Rookies John Rhey Lagura handed La Salle the lead at the 63rd minute and Shanden Vergara secured all three points with a quick brace at the 67th and 69th minutes.

Pilarca then pulled another goal back for the Soaring Falcons late in the game while Adamson’s Ralph Revillas was given his marching orders with two yellow cards.

In the end, La Salle won when it mattered and it increases its standing to 16 points in the league table.

“We’re going towards the last few games towards the Final Four so kailangan consistent. Hindi pwedeng maunahan ma-scoran (ng kalaban) lalo na with the quality of the football right now,” added Ocampo.

Up next for La Salle is University of the East on April 11, 2019, 9:00 AM in FEU-Diliman.
