The De La Salle University Women’s Football Team shall enter the UAAP Season 81 Women’s Football finals with no losses under its belt.
In what was the team’s last match of the regular season, La Salle fell victim to a late equalizer and drew 1-1 with the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws, Wednesday morning, at the Circulo Verde field in Quezon City.
The outcome allows Hans-Peter Smit’s wards to enter the championship game at 1st place with 16 points against FEU as the latter needed to not lose in order to return to the big dance.
After a goalless first half, Season 80 Rookie of the Year Bea Delos Reyes handed the La Salle the lead at the 69th minute when she shot past FEU goalie Kim Parina. However, nine minutes from time, FEU star Jovelle Sudaria scored for her side and both teams settled for the draw.
With the result, both teams shall have a rematch for the gold medal on May 16, 2019, 2:00 PM at the historic Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila as the Green & White targets to extend its reign as champions of the competition.
