Close Call for the Green Archers

The DLSU Green Archers was caught up in a tight game against the NU Bulldogs before losing 80-77 on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at the Mall of Asia Arena.

They were able to keep a close game from the second quarter of the game but fell short during overtime.

The score-gap only having a 3-point gap on the first quarter, they bounced back and kept a tied-up game up until the fourth quarter of the game, while the game had to call for an overtime.

They couldn’t keep their defense during overtime but was able to keep the scores close before falling short. They were then again, out-rebounded at the last few minutes of the game.

“We lost by 14 rebounds. They dominated us in the paint. That’s what we’re going to focus on.” Said Coach Topex Robinson.
Kevin Quiambao contributed 25 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists while Mark Nonoy contributed 10 points to the team.

Evan Nelle and Michael Phillips were able to land with 9 and 7 points, respectively.

Earl Abadam was able to step up during the game with 6 points even with just having a 4-minute playtime.

“It’s not NU’s fault, they really did well, but it’s just hard to put that kind of situation in somebody else’s hand. It is what is. We lost to NU this afternoon.” Said Coach Topex on the officiating during the final moments of the game.

The Green Archers demoted below the National University Bulldogs with a 3-2 and has fallen out from their 2-game win. They will face another tough battle against the UP Fighting Maroons on Wednesday at the same arena.
