With the defeat from the FEU Lady Tamaraws still fresh on their minds, the De La Salle University Lady Archers knew that they needed a win against a fellow Final Four contender to get their season back on track.
The Green and White did so in impressive fashion with a 63-46 victory over the Adamson University Lady Falcons, Saturday morning at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
The result elevates the Lady Archers’ standing to 3-3 in the UAAP Season 82 Women’s Basketball Tournament.
“We had a good start that’s why we had our rhythm throughout the game. Defensively, we were aggressive and then on offense, we kept on pushing the ball. That’s our game. That’s our identity. It was the good start that’s why we had our rhythm throughout the game.”
Angel Quingo set the tone early on for La Salle when her basket capped off a 10-0 run for a 13-7 edge in the first quarter. The Lady Archers never surrendered the lead from that point on and their separation from the Lady Falcons went as wide as 26 points.
Kent Pastrana led La Salle with 11 points and 10 rebounds while Lee Sario and Angel Quingco contributed 11 and 10 markers respectively. Maureen Okoli chipped in nine baskets and seized an eye-opening 18 boards for the team. Team captain Bennette Revillosa produced eight and eight rebounds as well.
La Salle hopes to end the first round on a high note when it takes on University of Santo Tomas on September 28, 2019, 8:00 AM at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
