Kevin Quiambao takes time management to the next level

MVP Frontrunner Kevin Quiambao says that training for 12 hours helps him become better every single game. His game day routine consists of waking up at 6 in the morning to go to Activate in Mandaluyong to train, after that he proceeds with his pre-game lifts, then shooting in a court near his house before he proceeds to the arena for the actual game.

“On off days, pag hard day 7 to 7. 7 am nag shoshooting ako, after shooting 9am bubuhat ako under Coach Migs Aytona, deretso ako ng dorm kakain lang ng lunch, and then after lunch akyat na agad sa gym for shooting and dribbling routines, viewing and then practice.” He mentions when asked about how much he trains on off days.

Coach Migs Aytona and Coach Gelo Vito’s strength and conditioning training is important to him since they are considered as crucial pieces in the team. He sees it as motivating if you work hard for your game and how he is able to strengthen his body more.

“For me, gusto ko lang naman magchampion yung team and then nung nasali ako sa MVP conversation, sobrang overwhelm ako pero bigger goal yung gusto ko. Gusto ko mag champion.” He adds when asked if it was really in his plans to be an MVP.

KQ stays composed as he trusts the coaches and the system every game. He mentions that putting double the effort and when things aren’t going well, just step up your game. He credits Coach Topex Robinson with him enjoying the journey whether they win or lose.

Staying present is something that he learned and is one thing he takes with him on this journey. He doesn’t think about what has happened and what’s about to happen. He aims to focus on what’s in front of him.

“May days na off sa school, like wednesdays. Mondays and Tuesdays (kasi) are online lang so habang nag woworkout ako, nasa online class ako. So ang kailangan ko lang ay yung time management and so far kapag Thursday at Friday dun ako nag sneak in sa klase after 7 AM shooting, nag bubuhat ako 8 AM, quick workout tas 9 AM to 11 AM yung klase ko.” He says when asked about how he balances athletics and academics.

Despite his heavy training schedule, he is indeed an MVP when it comes to time management.
