With top seed secured, La Salle remains focused on last elimination round match

For the first time in 4 years, the Lady Spikers will finish the elimination round on top.

After yesterday’s four-set win over Adamson, the defending champions are already assured of the twice-to-beat in the Final 4. They managed to get back at the Lady Falcons for that first round loss, and in the process eliminate them from contention.

Kim Dy led the Lady Spikers with 17 points off 13 spikes while Michelle Cobb finished with 32 excellent sets. The team made a total of 18 service aces during the match.

The result also sets the stage for a semis showdown with the NU Lady Bulldogs, who lost 5 of their last 6 games after topping the first round.

La Salle will close the eliminations against Ateneo on Sunday. Despite their next match being technically a non-bearing one, coach Ramil De Jesus says that the team remains focused on sustaining the momentum heading into the Final 4.

“Ngayon ang nasa isip lang namin is ‘yung next game namin. Hindi namin pinangungunahan ‘yung mga nasa harap namin,”

“Tapusin muna namin ‘yung laban namin sa elimination bago namin isipin ‘yung Final Four,”

He also added that he is not worried if the team appears to be peaking too early. La Salle has so far won 7 straight matches since losing to Adamson last February 24.

“Well um, nasa tamang pacing lang kami, so hindi pa siguro,” “Kung magpi-peak man, kaya pang pigilan,” added De Jesus.

Just like her mentor, graduating opposite hitter Kim Kianna Dy believes that their hard work and focus on playing their game resulted in their blistering winning romp.

“Di naman, we don’t think of it na nag-peak na kami. It’s just that every game we just have to play our game,”
